We consider computer science the study of computation, information,
and automation. Actually, we dislike the term, as we do the term informatics.
The first because it has the word science in it (as opposed to physics,
mathematics, ...) and computer refers more to a tool.
We dislike the second because we feel that the emphasis is more
on the information.
We coin the term computics (although it may suggest an emphasis on
computation), as the scientific study of computation and its application in
information processing and automation.
